We spent Independence Day with dear friends, swimming, gorging ourselves (especially on the yummy smoked ribs and ice cream cupcakes they brought) and enjoying one anothers’ company and a wonderful recorder concert by Maggie.

We had fun getting ready, making special decorations and treats for everyone. We tried the Frozen Treasure Hunt and Sponge Balls, and the kids made fun paper plate greetings. We even found patriotic hats for everyone. Kitschy, but fun.

We had a blast with some old-fashioned sparklers. It was so fun watching my little girl write her name in the air with them, just like I did when I was her age. Ah, the familiarity of tradition.

Happy Independence Day!
